Carmel Corn Recipe    Jo Ann Harston

 

3 cups sugar

3 cubes (sticks) butter

1 cup light Corn syrup

3/4 cup water

2 teaspoons vinegar

1-can of Jolly Time Popcorn  (See note)

 

Combine ingredients Sugar, butter, Corn syrup, water and vinegar. Cook on medium-high heat, stirring occasionally until light crack stage or until mixture barely starts to turn carmel color.  Lightly salt the popcorn.  Pour hot syrup over popcorn and stir until well coated.  Plunk on cookie sheets to cool.  Sometimes I add nuts.

 

Note:  I pop approximately 1 cup plus of popcorn - this makes a big batch of carmel corn; you can easily make a half batch.
